Development & Maintenance
PyPSA Labs takes a leading role in the development and long-term maintenance of the core library PyPSA and the European sector-coupled model PyPSA-Eur . We also co-develop associated libraries in the PyPSA ecosystem, such as atlite and powerplantmatching, together with the broader community. We focus on the software, you focus on the modelling.
Where funds go
Revenues from support subscriptions, workshop fees, and donations are invested into:
- Continuous maintenance: We fix bugs, update documentation, manage dependencies, prepare releases, and test compatibility. The routine work that keeps software usable.
- Feature development: We contribute to planning and implementing new features according to the PyPSA roadmap. Guided by the needs of the modelling community.
- Data updates: We keep datasets up-to-date and integrate new ones, e.g. on transmission lines, power plants, industrial sites, weather data, demand, and energy balances.
- Community coordination: We triage issues, review contributions, mentor new developers, and maintain development standards across the growing contributor base.
