What to expect

Our workshops are technical and practical. We cover common practical workflows of the PyPSA ecosystem: from building models and formulating optimisation problems to visualising and interpreting results, everything you need to get real work done. The exact thematic focus varies by location and is tailored towards industry needs. We leave time for open discussion, so participants can bring their own modelling challenges and get advice from our team. The workshops are also a great opportunity to connect with practitioners working on similar problems. Please bring your own laptop.

A typical workshop progresses from fundamentals to advanced topics:

PyPSA Fundamentals

Data structures and fundamental components, formulation of optimisation problems, results retrieval, visualisation and investigation

More Complex Topics

Demand-side management, storage modelling, electricity market modelling, custom constraints, statistics module

Capacity Expansion

Pathway analysis and investments in generation, transmission, storage and conversion

Sector Coupling

Multi-carrier networks across electricity, heat, hydrogen, biomass, and carbon dioxide

PyPSA-Eur

Introduction to the European energy system model workflow and data pipeline

Stochastic & Risk-Averse Optimisation

Handling uncertainty and risk management in energy system models

Host a workshop

If you'd like to host a workshop at your location, we offer two options. With an open-registration workshop, we manage paid registrations open to anyone and you receive a contingent of free participant seats in return for hosting. With an exclusive custom workshop, we design a private workshop tailored to your team and objectives, for which we will prepare a custom offer. Get in touch to discuss which option fits best.

Registration for our workshops is subject to our Training Workshop Terms and Conditions.
